G20 draft declaration leaves paragraph on Ukraine blank

According to a draught seen by Reuters, G20 negotiators were unable to overcome concerns over the language of the summit declaration on the Ukraine crisis on Friday, leaving any possible breakthrough to bloc leaders during the two-day conference.

The 38-page draught sent among members left the "geopolitical situation" paragraph blank, but it had agreed on the other 75 articles, which addressed climate change, cryptocurrency, and multilateral development bank changes.

Because of divisions over the conflict, G20 sherpas have been arguing for days to agree on a language, hoping to get Russia on board to draught a communiqué.

Notably, the theme of this year’s G20 Summit, which is taking place under India’s presidency is “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One Earth, One Family, One Future” – is drawn from the ancient Sanskrit text of the Maha Upanishad.
